ALA Gives Back
Two rewarding community service opportunities to give back to the local community. ALA Gives Back will take place on Friday, January 19, 2024.
We are pleased to announce that both community service opportunities are now at capacity. You can, however, join the waitlists when you register for LibLearnX.
Community is the reason we do what we do. ALA Gives Back is an initiative that will allow you to volunteer and make a difference in a local community and demonstrate the difference that library professionals can make.
There are two community service opportunities available for LibLearnX in Baltimore which can be selected during registration.
- Living Classrooms
Living Classrooms Foundation provides access to more equitable education, workforce, health, and wellness opportunities that enable individuals to achieve their goals and build safer, stronger, and healthier communities for all.
ALA Gives Back participants will assist with the Winter Book Drive, sorting, taking inventory, leveling the books, and delivering them to five programs.
- Enoch Pratt Free Library
In April, the Enoch Pratt Free Library hosts Imagination Celebration, a month-long, city-wide event for children ages 0-5 and their families that inspires creativity and imagination. Each year, the celebration highlights a featured title and families have the opportunity to enjoy author and illustrator visits, creative programs led by librarians, community partners, and vendors, book giveaways, and more!
ALA Gives Back participants will help the library prepare for Imagination Celebration and support family engagement by assembling Imagination Kits, which include craft and learning activities for our youngest readers. Be a part of this special opportunity to bring your talent and time to the local community, a rewarding enhancement to any conference experience.
